    Hi Ian,
It was a great list! Although we are in 2022, some of these tools are still very useful this year. I use plenty of them, and some of them are constantly recommended to me. I think I will finally be checking out the others this year. It was such a great read, and I think you put a lot of thought into this list. Thanks a lot for sharing this with the readers. It was a great help. I will definitely share some of these tools with friends of mine who are new to social media marketing.

Thanks, John. I'll be adding some more to the list shortly. There are a couple of new live tools that have either just come out or are coming out very soon. Having said that, the ones on this list still are my top recommendations. All the best!

Hi Dick, I'm so glad it was helpful for you. Happy New Year!

  7. Sergey

Thanks for the post. I am a long time HootSuite and IFTTT user. It's time to try the other tools.

    Dear Ian,

I barely ever comment on anything online, but I'll feel bad if I don't take the time to thank you. This was the most useful article I've read since I started researching social media scheduling. You've just officially ended a week's worth of mounting frustration by helping me settle on SmarterQueue (which no other article I read had even mentioned, let alone reviewed). Your blog has just earned a new regular visitor.

All the list of 7 social media management tools is awesome... I am using Hootsuite and social oomph for scheduling my post and they both are just awesome. I will surely try out these new tools for managing my social media posts. Thank you...!!!

So glad this article was helpful. Do let me know how you get on with any other tools you try out.

      1. priya Sharma

Sure, Ian Anderson Gray.........I will let you know.

I'm curios about your thoughts on Facebooks latest third party app changes.
    https://help.hootsuite.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055126673-Changes-to-Facebook-Page-functionality-September-11-2020

Especially this part: "In Mentions streams, you can no longer view, like, or reply to comments. You can add new comments to a mention, but they will not display in the stream when the webpage is refreshed. Images and videos in mentions or comments on mentions will no longer display in the Mentions stream."

It feels like a huge set back for any SoMe managment tool.

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

This is very frustrating. Facebook is continuing to make a lot of changes to enhance the security of its platform. I still feel that using a social media management tool gives a huge number of advantages, but FB is certainly removing helpful features. I'll see if I can find out more information.

Ian, so great of you to put this review together. Unless I missed it here, which tool(s) can auto link a company or person for a Facebook post utilizing the "@" symbol? Our frustration is having to go back and edit the posts directly on the SM channel to activate the auto-find links.

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Hi John. Glad you liked my review. You make a good point. It never used to be possible to at-mention other pages on tools via the Facebook API.
Thankfully now it is. I've not tested the functionality on all the different tools. I do know that Agorapulse has the feature. It's best to test on the other tools that you're looking for. Hope that helps! Ian

This is really great- because I've been doing the same thing, trying out different tools (even some really early ones). At the moment I'm in a rut, precisely because there's no perfect tool out there for this. I just about to see if you have reviewed Content Pilot- I've been hearing alot about it- so I've signed up for a trial. The search seems never ending!!! I don't often comment on blog posts but your research and comparison is so thorough I just had to say thank you!?

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Thank you for taking the time to comment, especially when you normally don't comment! Do let me know how you get on with Content Pilot!

  14. Rebecca

Thank you. I enjoyed reading your article and finding out more about the social media management tools. I have been using Buffer but I am not very happy with it. What do you think about Social Bee?

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Hi Rebecca, Sorry, I've not tried Social Bee yet. What's your issue with Buffer? Ian

  15. Thiago Neres

That's a great list. Mind if I suggest adding more white-label options like Vendasta?

    Hi Ian,
Thank you so much for this deep dive into the different lesser known tools! I'm new to SM marketing (simply for my own businesses) and trying to figure out the best option if I have TWO different businesses with profiles on FB, IG, and LinkedIn. (I also host videos for each of them on YouTube, but that's more for linking purposes than social media that I would want to update several times a week.) Am I correct in thinking that the term "profile" in these descriptions refers to a single businesses profile on a single SM platform? So I would need 6 profiles to cover all of my needs for the two businesses on the three different platforms? Or can you even manage two different businesses on the same management software account? Trying to sort this out at the beginning so i don't have buyer's remorse, lol.

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Hi Kira. Thanks for reading my article, I appreciate it! Yes, a profile refers to a single business profile on a single SM platform and yes, you can manage different businesses with most, if not all of these tools. I personally use Agorapulse, but most of the tools in this list will be able to meet your needs.

  17. Jennifer

Thanks for this comprehensive article! I currently use eClincher. How would you say that compares to Sprout Social and AgoraPulse? These seem to be the current market leaders.

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Hi Jennifer, thanks for reading my article! To be honest, I have not used eClincher in years, so I could not give you a comparison. I may look at it again in the future, and if I do, I will certainly write about it.

  18. Sahil

This article is very good and very attractive as it has lots of new points about which I was unaware. I really enjoyed reading this article.

  19. Rose Herbst

What a great and thorough article!! I can tell you spent a lot of time and energy on this. In you opinion what would be the best "free or close to it" Social Media Management tool?? I currently use Buffer and pay $10 a month for auto-generated content based on certain feeds that I selected. However, looks like they have changed their pricing and I wasn't super happy with Buffer anyway so looking for a new tool!! Suggestions?? Thanks so much!

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

Hi Rose. Thanks! Yes, it took a lot of time and effort to put this together - but worth it!
To be honest, there aren't very many free tools anymore. The market has changed - thanks to the social networks themselves who have made it harder for tools to build the infrastructure to connect with them. Buffer is a nice tool, but they've changed their pricing like you say, and it's not really a full social media management tool unless you subscribe to all their products, and then it's really expensive. The only free tool is Hootsuite's free plan, but that is very limited. If you liked Buffer, then you might want to check out SocialChamp - it's a really nice tool for

Basically, I am new in blogging and I want to learn more and more to increase my knowledge. So that, I would able to write in the best way. I have read your blog and I got the best methods for social media tools. Thanks for sharing the information.

  21. Anna Koshelenko

    Great Article!

  22. Bob Lojn

WOW! You seriously have put some time into researching the various solutions out there! While this was a monster of an article, it allowed me to quickly review some of the major players in social media management today. I've also reviewed several of your "7 reasons" articles on various platforms, and found great value there as well. Thank you!

Through all of it, however, I've got a nagging question I can't seem to answer. In my job I am mainly focused on interacting/replying to DM's from the various social platforms (DM only, I don't really care who started following us or looking at the various comments to posts, etc...) It seems like Sendible, Sprout Social, and Agorapulse have some of the best options for their inbox capabilities, but what might provide me with the best option to filter, monitor, and follow up with DM conversations from 5-6 social platforms?

    1. Ian Anderson Gray Author

My pleasure, Bob. But yes, it took a huge amount of time to put all this together! You make a good point. Not all tools do a particularly good job at managing DMs, but certainly, Sprout Social and Agorapulse do. I, personally, use Agorapulse, and it's got a great filter and the ability to set up automated moderation rules on your DMs. Bear in mind that not all social networks allow tools to access their DMs. It's possible for a tool to manage Facebook and Twitter DMs. But unfortunately, tools can't access DMs on Instagram or LinkedIn. This isn't the fault of the tool, but LinkedIn and Instagram don't give access. So, personally I'd recommend Agorapulse, but Sprout and Sendible both are great too. Ian
