wait, you never finished the other 4 P's!? this was such a beast of a post. Thank you.

Thanks, Nico. I didn't finish the other Ps! But I did do a whole podcast, show and blog post about them here - https://iag.me/5-ps-of-live-video-content/ Hope that's helpful.
Glad you liked this article. Ian

Hi, thanks for this seriously helpful article. Wondering if you could help me figure something out. Is there a way to "test" the livestream to LinkedIn via Wirecast? Seems streamyard has that option. I only see an option in Wirecast to just go live right to the channel. My problem is I have an important livestream coming up and I want to make sure it's all working end to end. No way to make a private stream? For Facebook I've got a dummy/test account that I usually stream to first. Very hesitant to just go live to our thousands of page followers without knowing if it's going to work or not on the big day. Any ideas? thanks Brad

Hi Brad. Thanks for your comment. You make a great point, and it's something I have been frustrated about. Unfortunately, LinkedIn doesn't yet have a test feature for LinkedIn Live. So it doesn't matter which tool you use - whether it's Wirecast, StreamYard or Socialive, you can't do a test to LinkedIn Live. And that isn't helped by the fact that you can't change the privacy settings for individual posts like you can with Facebook. The only way really is to do a test stream live to all your followers. In fact, that isn't a bad idea, because people are used to that with LinkedIn Live and you might find you get a lot of interaction with your test live. Ian
Hi, Iag! I am impressed with this post. Recently I was thinking to do so and I got your post. I can perform steps mentioned here amazingly which are very useful. Hope it will work. Thanks much!

If you had to pick between eCamm and Streamyard. Which would you use? Which has better audio quality? Video quality? Would I be able to repurpose the audio from a live stream?
Ian Anderson GrayAuthor
Hi Anthony,
For ease of use - both for guests and you as host/producer, then StreamYard. For video and audio quality, it kind of depends on your set up, but I'd say definitely Ecamm Live. For the most powerful features, I'd definitely say Ecamm Live. For guest video, again that depends. With Ecamm you are using Skype which can vary. So sometimes it will be better with StreamYard.
For repurposing, both Ecamm and StreamYard have the ability to save the video afterwards. Ecamm can do this in 1080p (if your bandwidth and computer can deal with that). StreamYard is 720p. So you can repurpose the audio from the live stream that way. Or, you can do what I do, and take the audio from your and your guest while you go live and route it into an app

Great in depth and very helpful article ❤️ Thank you Ian ;-)
I’m off to complete the application form ;-) Q: Is there anyway to subscribe to see when a live is broadcasting ? Or see/know who currently has the ability to ?
Les

Hi Les. Oh dear, just seen your comment - sorry for the delay. No, unfortunately, there isn't a chance to do that right now. And because you can't currently schedule a live broadcast it's tough to let people know. Ian

Hi I applied but have not got any promising answers yet any recommendations for me to focus on when I reapply ?
Ian Anderson GrayAuthor
Hi Marie,
There are a lot of frustrated people waiting for LinkedIn Live access. Have you had any joy since? I don't have any other recommendations other than
DDana
Do you know who was originally included in the beta? It would be interesting to see some initial use cases.
Ian Anderson GrayAuthor
Hi Dana,
There are quite a few people and companies that are in the beta. Hootsuite and Telestream do live broadcasts. Janet Murray and Winnie Sun do great LinkedIn Live broadcasts.

So I got my email on 8/1/19 saying I was granted access to the beta of LinkedinLive as well but I am unable to broadcast. It seems my account is not fully set up to allow me to broadcast live. Did you have immediate access after getting your email or did it take a few days between receiving the email and actually being able to go live?
Great article. Thanks
Ian Anderson GrayAuthor
Hi David. Which tool are you trying to use to broadcast to LinkedIn Live? You'll need to use one of the tools that integrates with LinkedIn LIve. There are only a few which includes Wirecast, Switcher Studio, Restream, Socialive etc. I got access straight away. Let me know more so I can help.
